This role will assist with business development and growth by supporting the Commercial Lines Underwriters and by building relationships with independent agents. The Commercial Lines Underwriting Assistant will apply sound judgment to assist in underwriting business that minimizes risk and contributes to a profitable portfolio. Essential Functions Develop positive working relationships with agents through various modes of communication: telephone, email, faxes, and in-person Assist agents with quoting and approving new accounts Process cancellations, endorsements, and umbrella renewals while adhering to company policy and state regulations Gather necessary information from agents/insureds (i.e. additional information needed and/or requested documents such as: report cards, alarm certificates, jewelry appraisals, and liability exclusions). Distribute new business Make entries as required, properly and promptly in underwriting systems to ensure accuracy of data in relation to underwriting and quoting Other duties as assigned Job Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 3-5 years of Commercial Lines underwriting or customer service experience Knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance Strong analytical and problem solving skills with particular attention to detail Exceptional organizational and time management skills Strong computer aptitude which includes expertise with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Experience with ImageRight is desired Excellent written and oral communication skills Able to work independently with little supervision, but also able to work collaboratively with a team Compensation Commensurate with experience Performance-based incentives Benefits Package 401(k) company match up to 6% eligible upon hire Medical, dental & vision, including company paid Life insurance and long-term disability Wellness program Health care flexible spending accounts Paid time off Paid & unpaid sick leave where applicable, as well as short-term disability Parental & family leave; military leave & pay Employee Referral Incentive Career Development & Continuing Education Assistance Physical Conditions/Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
