Underwriting Assistant Job Summary:

The Underwriting Assistant position is responsible for providing support to the Underwriting Department through initial preparation & administration for quotes of new policies, gathering needed information & documentation, and performing administrative tasks and transactions throughout a quote’s life cycle.

Major Accountabilities:

Review submissions for accurate information and determine if quote clearance is warranted. Prepare incoming quote submissions for Underwriter review and notify underwriting of any risk characteristics that are outside underwriting guidelines. Complete an Account Summary for each cleared risk with accurate and meaningful information. Perform Vindication process for risks as requested by underwriting. Preform all administrative transactions during quote life cycle. Maintain flow of support material in department email inbox. Place all documentation and correspondence in ImageRight quote files. Obtain missing or additional information from general agents as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications:
Education/Training Requirements:

High school diploma required. Associates degree in related field preferred.

Experience/Specialized Skills:

Previous agency or company Property and Casualty experience preferred. Basic computer skills (word processing, databases, spreadsheets, Internet, e-mail) required.

Special Considerations:
Physical Requirements:

Constant use of vision, hearing, and communication (oral and written in person and via telephone). Frequent concentration, standing, walking, handling, reaching, and grasping. Occasional bending, kneeling and lifting (up to 25 lbs.) Heavy use of computer and office equipment.

Travel/Hours of Service:

Periodic work outside of standard business hours or on weekends may be required.
