POSITION:

The primary purpose of a Senior Bio-Medical Equipment Technician is to ensure the proper maintenance, availability, safe, smooth and efficient operations of the OR by managing, maintaining, and providing access to all necessary medical equipment. AREAS OF

ANESTHESIOLOGY SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Operations, manage day to day operations to ensure efficiency and alignments with organizational objectives.
Tracking, auditing, and accounting for all OR and Anesthesia equipment. It may also entail organizing and storing equipment, and ensuring it’s readily available for use.
Oversee the maintenance and repair of equipment, which can involve scheduling services, coordinating with vendors, troubleshooting issues, and performing basic repairs themselves.
Ensure that all equipment is used safely and that employees are trained in proper safety procedures. This includes adhering to relevant regulations and standards.
Train staff on the proper use and maintenance of equipment.
Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, maintenance, repairs, and usage. May also prepare reports for senior management on equipment expenditure
Communicate regularly with other departments within the organization, such as operations, finance, and safety. They may also work with vendors and contractors.
Ensuring proper functioning and maintenance of anesthesia equipment
Having technical knowledge and skills in anesthesia equipment operation and troubleshooting.
Oversee the work of anesthesia technicians, including scheduling, evaluation, and performance management.
Oversee the use and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies.
Serving as a point of contact for anesthesia-related questions, coordinating with other departments, and communicating with surgeons and other healthcare professionals.
Attend daily operating room huddles.
Identifies performance improvement.
Attend OR Administration meetings or in the absence of the Deputy Director of Operations.
Performs any other related duties in the department when called upon.
Minimum Qualifications 1. Associate Degree, which included course work in Bio-Medical Technician field, and three year’s experience in the appropriate bio-medical technician field in an approved hospital or health facility; or, 2. Senior high school graduation or possession of a High School Equivalency Diploma, and four year’s experience in the appropriate bio-medical technical field in an approved hospital or health facility; or, 3. A satisfactory equipment combination of education and experience. 4. Employees performing blood analysis require certificates of qualification issued by the New York City Department of Health in the subspecialty of 29 (Ph blood gases) or specialty 28 (general clinical chemistry).
