Assistant Athletic Trainer 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars Montevallo, AL 35115 Position Number P32568 Division President – PRS Department Sports Medicine & Athletic Trainer Department FLSA Exempt Salary Grade 206 Salary Classification Admin/Professional Annual Salary Range $43,888 Hourly Salary Range Employment Status Full Time 12 Mos Regular General Description The purpose of this position is to assist with the administration of the Sports Medicine Program for the health, safety and welfare of student-athletes under general supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer. Essential Job Duties 1. Evaluate, treat and rehabilitate athletic injuries. 2. Supervise sports medicine needs of specific teams as assigned by head trainer. 3. Assist in establishing and maintaining a working relationship with coaches, physicians, parents and University Health Services and refer students as necessary. 4. Assist with the medical record-keeping and insurance for student-athletes. 5. Coordinate pre-participation physical examinations with head athletic trainer. 6. Schedule doctor’s appointments for injured athletes. 7. Assist with inventory of medical supplies and equipment. 8. Counsel student-athletes with regard to a variety of medical issues. 9. Remain in full compliance with NCAA, Peach Belt Conference and University policies and procedures, and acknowledges this compliance as part of the evaluation process. 10. Teach care and prevention of athletic injuries class during fall semester for Kinesiology Department within College of Education as needed. 11. Obtains the required continuing education credits to fulfill the requirements for licensure renewal and national certification. 12. Assist with applicable NCAA and Institutional Drug Testing programs. Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive. Additional Duties None Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of NCAA, Peach Belt Conference and University policies and procedures; Knowledge of medical record-keeping and insurance for student-athletes; Ability to administer First Aid, CPR/AED Education and Experience The educational requirement for this position is: Bachelors’ Degree in Athletic training or related discipline. Master’s degree preferred. Education substituted for experience?

Yes This position requires:

Two (2) years experience as assistant athletic trainer, graduate assistant athletic trainer or four (4) years as student trainer at intercollegiate level. Experience substituted for education? No Licenses, Certification or Registrations Certifications, licenses, professional designations, or other qualifications required for this position include: National Athletic Training Association (NATA) certification. Alabama Athletic Association (ALATA) certification. First aid CPR, and AED Certified Valid Driver’s License Acceptable driving record Certifications, licenses, professional designations, or other qualifications preferred for this position include:

This position requires lifting:

This position has the following special vision requirements: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less). Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more). Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).
