Athletic Training Full Job Description Education and Credential Requirements:
Masters Degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or related field NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer Licensed Athletic Trainer by Florida Department of Health by start of employment Certified in CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer/Basic Life Support Equivalent Florida Tech is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Sunshine State Conference The Assistant Athletic Trainer is primarily responsible for the healthcare of student-athletes that are participating in supervised team activities for the specific teams assigned as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Performance. The Florida Tech Sports Medicine Staff consists of four athletic trainers covering 15 teams (4 fall, 5 winter, and 6 spring) promoting a team environment assisting one-another during sport season overlaps and schedule conflicts. Sport assignments for this position are to be determined.
More specific responsibilities include:
Evaluate, Diagnosis, Treat and Rehabilitate musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses of student-athletes including review of pre-participation exams, related paperwork, and maintain appropriate medical documentation. Provide referrals to other medical providers as necessary with accompanying insurance claim filing. Provide medical coverage for athletic events including travel as assigned. Collaborate with Sport Performance Staff and sport coaching staff on sport science initiatives to promote injury prevention and performance enhancement. Other duties as assigned by Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine & Performance.
