06/10/2025 Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has an immediate opening for a qualified Athletic Trainer & Teacher. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Functions and Responsibilities include:
Maintains a detailed inventory of all athletic training supplies and equipment and assists in the ordering process.
Maintains and assists in the development of emergency action plans for all practice and competition venues in accordance with school risk management guidelines and state regulations.
Follows all the department guidelines, policies, and procedures in accordance with national/ international best practices and consensus statements.
Maintains student-athlete insurance information via EMR.
Compiles team rosters and completes athlete eligibility checks (SWAY) for each season.
Assists in the coordination of physical examinations and screenings when applicable.
Communicates with Head AT, physicians, and coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes.
Assists in appropriate physician referrals and appointments.
Assists the institution in hosting athletic events.
Assists the Athletic Director and coaching staff in determining whether the athletic facility is in optimal and safe condition.
Helps monitor weather conditions and dangerous environments (humidity/lightning).
Adheres to conference guidelines, including visiting team accommodations and services.
Responsible for implementation and rehearsal of best practices for health and safety.
Knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by the league and conference should be maintained, reviewed and practiced to ensure compliance relative to applicable duties.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE accredited college or university (required).
Master’s degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE accredited college or university (preferred).
BOC certified and possess state athletic training licensure, certification, or registration; NPI number required.
Three (3) years or more of experience preferred.
Thorough knowledge of existing system, state athletic regulations, and understanding of the proper administrative chain of command.
Thorough knowledge of the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques associated with the athletic training program.
Thorough knowledge of state and federal requirements regarding physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility for athletic participation.
Thorough knowledge of training rules and any other unique regulations pertaining to the various sports in which athletes are engaged.
Thorough knowledge of guidance and safeguards in place for the safety of athletes to address medical injuries and emergencies.
Thorough knowledge of the process for initiating policies and procedures applicable to the athletic training program.
Thorough knowledge of concussion management and current trends.
Thorough knowledge of first aid applications.
Comprehensive knowledge of proper training room supplies within a safety context.
Comprehensive knowledge of sports medicine, local medical facilities, and when student athletes should be referred based on injuries and/or medical conditions.
Comprehensive knowledge of student athletic/ medical file management including but not limited to physicals, injury reports, treatment logs, etc.
Comprehensive knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA rules and regulations.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks.
Excellent presentation skills with use of instructional technology, including iPads, in the classroom.
Excellent oral and written English -language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
Excellent classroom management skills and have demonstrated ability to engage students.
Software proficiency in Microsoft, Zoom, Notability, and Ipad.
Ability to perform physical requirements aligned with duties of job, including medium strength to position patients, lift and move 50 pounds minimum, and work with outside weather conditions.
Supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; experience in the Roman Catholic environment preferred.
