ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must pass DOE annual physical, must be willing to submit to drug and alcohol testing as may be required by law, and must qualify for or possess a valid Georgia CDL license with required passenger (P) and school bus driver (S) endorsements The driver must submit to a local and national criminal background check prior to being hired. Must submit to and show negative results on drug and/or alcohol test to be given on a pre-employment, random, post-accident and/or reasonable suspicion basis in accordance with federal law and district policy. Must register in the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. Must hold or pass the DOE Bus Driver training program and maintain certification. Must report any criminal violations or charges to their supervisor prior to their next duty assignment. Must be able, in the event of an emergency evacuation, to lift, carry, or drag 40 pounds of weight comfortably. Preferred A minimum of two years verifiable experience as school bus driver.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Must demonstrate prompt and outstanding attendance. Work hours may vary throughout the year Plans and coordinates annual training program for school bus drivers Coordinates training class for all potential school bus drivers and monitors Coordinates, in concert with 3rd party tester, all school bus driver CDL road tests Must have a keen understanding of all state and local traffic laws for operating a school bus Informs Assistant Director or Director of Transportation with qualifications, concerns, and updated status of all bus drivers in training Plans and coordinates in-service training and remedial training for school bus drivers as required Coordinates school safety programs such as (S.O.A.R.) for all grade levels Evaluates and updates new safety and training materials as needed or required by law Will be directly responsible for maintaining records of school bus drivers for all DOE classes. Will ensure all required DOE records are maintained per standards Responsible for the planning, setup and execution of the Department’s Annual Road-e-o Safety Skills competition Trains driver trainers to CDL standards, and conducts spot checks of training being conducted Plans and coordinates training of school bus drivers and monitors to include First Aid/CPR, Stop the Bleed and conducts monthly safety training meetings Plans, schedules and conducts bus driver range training annually Must pass DOE annual physical, must be willing to submit to drug and alcohol testing as may be required by law, and must qualify for or possess a valid Georgia CDL license with required passenger (P) and school bus driver (S) endorsements Must be able, in the event of an emergency evacuation, to lift, carry, or drag 40 pounds of weight comfortably Must adhere to all state and local traffic laws while operating a school bus. Is required to provide permission for periodic inquiries to their Motor Vehicle Records and the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse Must attend mandatory annual state safety meeting and other scheduled department training as required Must present an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor while dealing with students, parents, school officials and the general public at large Must be able to communicate effectively (written and oral) with employees, administration and staff Other duties that may be assigned within the confines of the regular salaried work day.

Must possess the ability to learn how to read maps, maintain schedules, collect data and write reports Must be able to read and understand written policy and procedure Will be expected to adhere to specific and general operating and management policy and procedure as periodically presented during a given school year Must be able to pass performance based re-occurring training necessary to maintain sound driving skills as required by the Director of Transportation
