Job Summary:
The Lead Trainer•Transportation•is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the school principal, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.

Primary Function:
Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of school buses to transport students safely and efficiently. Knowledge of the requirements of the Georgia Department of Driver Services for Third Party Testing. Knowledge of the preparation of a variety of records and reports related to assignment. Ability to administer skills tests approved by the Georgia DDS. Ability to work well with others and give direction. Working knowledge of all laws relating to the operation of a school bus. Knowledge of principles and practices of training. Knowledge of District policies and rules applicable to school bus operations. Ability to provide individual and group instruction. Ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions.

Qualifications:
Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
Valid Georgia Driver’s License and a Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), P, S, and airbrake endorsements
Valid Commercial Examiner Certificate
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience driving different types and sizes of school buses
Clean driving record and all required certifications for a school bus driver
Ability to pass an annual physical exam
Ability to pass drug screening
Ability to work well with others and give direction
Working knowledge of all laws relating to the operation of a school bus Valid CPR/First Aid Card
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:
Complies with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and Department of Driver Services
Maintains the state approved testing location, a record of each driver for whom Third Party Tested conducts skills tests, whether the driver passes or fails, and the driver’s record
Maintains a record of each Third-Party Examiner who has administered skills tests at the location
Ensures that all skills tests are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the DDS Agreement, instructions of the Department and its representatives, and all federal and state laws and regulations
Ensures that all skills tests administered are conducted in a manner that minimizes the potential for compromising the integrity of the test
Helps to ensure that the district maintains a DOT safety rating of satisfactory
Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the contents of the CDL Driver’s Manual
Demonstrates a working knowledge of the CDL Examiner’s Manual
Demonstrates the ability to administer and correctly score each CDL skills test
Demonstrates knowledge of the third-party testing site and route requirements
Conducts a minimum of ten (10) skills tests per contract year to ensure proficiency
Only tests for the type(s) and class(es) for which certified
Interact with applicants and assisting them in completing all required paperwork and reports prior to interviewing or invitation to Driver Training Program
Attends and successfully completes all advanced training courses, workshops, seminars, etc.
Monitor training staff to facilitate an effective training program and improve bus success
Instructs newly hired and prospective school bus drivers in accordance with the Georgia School Bus Drivers Training Program
Assists drivers on routes to observe performance and assure driving routines and other practices
Assists in the investigation of accidents
Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee
