UNC Cary Orthopaedics is pleased to announce that we are opening an Orthopaedic Urgent Care practice at our Holly Springs office. UNC Cary Orthopaedics offers an exciting opportunity in one of the nation’s top-rated areas for growth and lifestyle. We are committed to providing exceptional care and improving patients’ quality of life. We are seeking an experienced Certified Athletic Trainer to join and manage our upcoming Orthopaedic Urgent Care practice. The successful candidate will work closely and collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers to provide comprehensive care to patients. This position will require that the applicant possesses the clinical evaluation and educational skills expected of an athletic trainer working in a physician extender role. The athletic trainer is responsible for the following functions regarding athletic injuries prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning as set forth by the NATA Board of certification. The athletic trainer will demonstrate proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment. The athletic trainer will carry out all prescribed treatments and recommendations by the team/program/event physician. This position will work on weekends in rotating shifts with other urgent care staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing and maintaining cleanliness of clinic each day
- Escorting patients to and from exam rooms
- Taking all patient vitals
- Entering patient information in electronic medical records (EMR) system
- Drawing up injections
- Assisting APP’s with prescriptions
- Sending out referrals
- Brace fitting
- Casting and splinting
- Ordering imaging
- Assist with in-office procedures/recovery
- Fill in on other clinics to provide coverage
Required Skills:
- Orthopaedic or Emergency Medicine experience preferred.
- Must be computer literate with excellent grammar and experience in EMR software
- Professional demeanor
- Work independently and in a team
- Excellent patient care and communication skills
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Ability to establish healthy relationships with other staff and providers
- Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs. and assist patients on/off exam tables.
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to any of our clinical sites throughout the week (Holly Springs, Cary, Morrisville)
- Must be able to stay past business hours as needed for patient care.
Education Requirements:
- Valid certification through NCBATE
