Position Summary:
The Certified Athletic Trainer (CAT) will, under the supervision of a licensed physician, perform the appropriate initial clinical intake and injury assessments for patients within the orthopedic office setting. When not at athletic events, the athletic trainer will be working in a medical capacity in a clinic setting. Clinical duties will include providing patient clinical assessments, including initiating the history and basic physical examination, arranging for paperwork such as lab studies, MRI scans, and general prescriptions, and reviews radiographs and MRI scans alongside of physician. The CAT will assist with scribing for the medical provider, working in close collaboration with the medical assistants to ensure seamless patient flow, assisting staff with obtaining insurance authorizations, scheduling advanced imaging studies and coordinating referrals.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree, with certification from the Board of Certification (BOC) for athletic trainers Required.
Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science preferred.
Experience:
Minimum one (1) year applicable experience required.
Two (2) years’ applicable experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certified required.
Must be eligible for licensure in the state of South Carolina
