Job Description
We offer up to 3 full-time paid 4 th year externships that start generally in mid-May. Externs are hired for a 12-month competency-based experience. The externships are solely clinical but provide exposure to children birth to 21 years of age. Externs will rotate to one of four primary locations in the North Atlanta Metroplex. Externs will have a primary preceptor at each location and participate in all areas of pediatric audiology including comprehensive
ABR / ASSR
testing, behavioral audiological assessments and hearing aid and osseointegrated processor evaluations and fittings. Externs will also gain experience with all three cochlear implant manufacturers. On-site continuing education opportunities are provided to 4th year externs at no cost to them. 10 Continuing education opportunities? Yes On-site continuing education opportunities are provided manufacturer representatives and trainers during the clinic day. Our externs are encouraged to attend all of these opportunities.

05/18/2026 Expected hours/days a week: 40 hours over 5 days Travel to satellite centers required? Yes All satellite locations are within 20 miles of our primary location and mileage is reimbursed.

Yes Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
- Otoscopy
- Tympanometry
- Standard comprehensive audiometric evaluation
- Ear impressions and measure RECDs on a school age child
- Familiarity with real-ear measures, various amplification manufacturer software, VRA, CPA and electrophysiology assessments recommended but not required. Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
- Test selection based patient’s age & ability
- Masking for tones, speech and electrophysiology
- Evaluation & verification for amplification

University will provide a format for grading the extern on performance throughtout the semester.
