Melmark Overview Melmark is a nonprofit organization providing clinically-sophisticated evidence-based special education, residential, vocational, and therapeutic services for children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complexities, and other neurological and genetic disorders. Behavior Specialist Overview The Behavior Specialist in the ICF program serves as the Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional. This position is responsible for development, oversight and coordination of active treatment and clinical programs for individuals receiving services in the Adult ICF/ID Programs. This includes but is not limited to development, training and implementation of the individual service plan and behavior support plan for each individual, as well as completion of any related paperwork. Conducts individual functional behavior assessments, including comprehensive functional assessments, and develops, trains, and monitors desensitization plans. Oversees the implementation, data collection, and data reviews for each plan. The Behavior Specialist ensures compliance with required ICF/ID regulatory standards and oversees implementation of quality performance measures and standards for Melmark Adult Residential ICF/ID Programs. Maintains appropriate levels of communication with all team members including families, and regulatory agencies Assumes related duties and responsibilities to provide programming/services through a thorough understanding and promotion of active treatment while also accepting responsibility for the health, safety, welfare and growth for all individuals receiving services in the Adult Residential ICF/ID programs. Provides continuous active treatment program for all individuals that allow them to gain and maintain their skills and prevent regression. Schedule and Salary Information Monday- Friday 8am-4pm
Starting Salary:
Bachelors degree: $54,080.00 (+) based on years of experience Masters degree (no bcba): $ 60,320.00 (+) based on years of experience Requirements Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree. A Master’s Degree with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis is highly preferred. Must have completed or be actively enrolled in 6 course series for ABA if already has a Master’s degree. Bachelor level candidates must be actively enrolled in a Master’s program in Applied Behavior Analysis. A valid US driver’s license and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old. Minimum of three (3) years experience in a residential or special education setting or working in the behavior analytic field. Experience with the principles and application of Applied Behavior Analysis. Behavior Specialist Responsibilities Demonstrates working knowledge of ICF/ID regulations with specific attention to regulatory requirements related to active treatment, assessment, behavior management, and restrictive procedures. Develops and conducts individual behavior assessments (e.g. functional behavior assessment, functional analysis, preference assessments, etc.). Develops individual support and behavior support plans based on the findings of the comprehensive functional assessment and functional behavior assessment. Ensures all interventions are developed using the least restrictive most effective methods possible. Trains and provides ongoing monitoring and support to all staff and supervisors regarding individual support and behavior support plans. Ensure consistent implementation of all treatment plans and data collection procedures. Provides behavior support plan training and support to families, external providers, etc. as needed. Completes frequent data reviews including presentation at monthly IDT/review meetings and complete all monthly and quarterly documentation. Facilitates monthly IDT meetings.
