Job Description
Behavior Technician MidSouth Sober Living 300 North Bellevue Boulevard, Memphis, TN 38105 Job description We are seeking one or more behavior technicians to assist adult male residents who are participating in local recovery courts and receiving outpatient treatment services for alcohol and substance use disorders. As a behavior tech at our facility, you will help ensure that our clients work on treatment and recovery goals in a structured, supervised sober living environment. As part of the treatment team, behavioral techs work closely with residents to support and encourage them on their path to recovery and successful completion of the requirements of their recovery court program. Paid training available for qualified applicants (two years’ personal recovery experience required). Please note that male applicants are preferred for this position, as one of the job duties include administering observed urine drug screens on male residents in the program.
Duties performed:
Support residents to successfully complete their daily activities both at the facility and out in the community, including outpatient group therapy, individual therapy, medical appointments, recovery meetings, work and/or educational activities, and community service. Collaborate with staff to ensure that residents adhere to the facility’s daily schedule. Monitor residents, building, and grounds, conduct room checks and perform security checks at 30-minute intervals. Accurately maintain all required records as assigned. Assist in maintaining efficient and organized shared work spaces and community areas. Order Lyfts or other ride shares for approved clients’ rides as assigned. Collaborate with a supervisor should a medical emergency arise. At all medication times, supervise and document residents’ self-administered medication. Communicate to direct supervisor (written and/or oral) any pertinent resident information. Conduct random observed drug screens as directed by supervisor and counselor. Attend periodic staff meetings. Enforce all rules. Maintain confidentiality of all current and previous residents. Maintain strict professional boundaries with all residents, court participants, and other clients involved in treatment or recovery programs associated with the agency or the recovery courts Read and adhere to staff code of ethics. Assist with other projects and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in behavioral health/substance use disorder treatment and recovery strongly preferred. If in recovery from addiction, one year of continuous sobriety minimum, two years preferred. Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain CPR certification with 6 months of hire. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above listed duties satisfactorily. Skills and Abilities:
Ability to observe behavior problems and symptoms of substance use disorders, mental illness, and co-occurring disorders for the purpose of documentation and communication with staff and outside referral sources. Ability to successfully integrate into the current treatment team process. Ability to facilitate individual and group meetings related to recovery from substance use disorder. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written manner. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with residents, co-workers, supervisors, consumer family members and the general public. Ability to successfully complete pre-employment physical examination as required. Ability to handle and maintain confidential information in conformance with HIPAA guidelines. Ability to work varied days and hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
