POSITION SUMMARY

The Cardiovascular Sonographer is fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Service and Stewardship by delivering appropriate direct and indirect quality patient care and performs scans in compliance with regulatory and department processes. The Cardiovascular Sonographer is responsible for achieving system and department goals, and quality and fiscal targets.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES 1.

Ensures the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient by verifying two forms of patient identification on “Every Patient / Every Time”. 2. Accurately completes all required written and electronic documentation (ex: patient history, pregnancy, IV contrast, procedural consent, Medication Administration Record (MAR), safety portal, medication reconciliation, Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). 3. Ensures all charges are complete and accurate for all procedures and supplies used. 4. Reviews exam orders from medical charts and prescriptions prior to performing an exam. 5. Performs procedure protocols, produces images consistent with image quality standards and follows all Federal, State and Regional healthcare regulations, adhering to The Joint Commission standards. 6. Properly positions patients using appropriate technique. 7. Properly identifies, prepares and administers medications within the technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner. 8. Maintains productivity as determined by leadership. 9. Practices aseptic and sterile technique per Infection Control guidelines and policies. 10. Ensures equipment is clean and disinfected prior to each patient encounter and reports malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate department, fellow associates, and management in a timely manner. 11. Ensures exam rooms are clean, neat, stocked and disinfected Work Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Any one of the following: o Graduate of a Sonography program OR o Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program OR o Noninvasive Cardiovascular Program OR o Bachelor’s Degree in Health Services OR o Associate’s Degree in Health Sciences.

Work Experience:
None Licensure:

Anyone of the following within one (1) year of hire. o Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) OR o Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) OR o Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) OR o Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) OR o Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS).

Certification:

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

o Basic computer skills including knowledge of MS Office – Outlook and Word o Excellent communication skills in an active team environment. o Ability to assess and interpret data o Ability to clearly communicate with patient/family/physicians at various levels of understanding o Ability to take call acknowledging emergency alerts within five (5) minutes and presenting to hospital within sixty (60) minutes of alert.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently. May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance. May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead. May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift. May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise. May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines Benefits
