Sonography Full Job Description Schedule:

Monday-Thursday 7:45am-5:00pm Fridays 7:45am-1:00pm. No weekends Floats to Fort Lauderdale and Parkland

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list may not include all the duties that may be assigned. Perform imaging and non-invasive cardiovascular evaluations which may include, Echocardiograms, Holter monitoring, event recorders, electrocardiogram. Obtain patient history, explain procedures to patient, addresses patients concern and follows established pre-screening policy and procedure. Determines appropriate methodology and techniques to use; arranges immobilization and/or support devices for proper patient positioning; selects appropriate imaging device. Prepares patient for echocardiography procedure, positions patient as appropriate for prescribes procedure and assists patients at completion of procedure. Provides images data analysis and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation. Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements; calibrates equipment as required by the institution. Monitors the patient’s physical condition during the procedure; report patient change of status or emergency situations to the clinical staff, supervisor and/or cardiologist. Recognize abnormal rhythms and immediately notify the physician or appropriate clinical staff. Maintains accurate patient documentation, including computerized documentation. Performs general office duties; Maintains supply stock assists administrators in determining quantities for purchase, records procedures codes for billing purposes and scheduling patients. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Troubleshoot equipment and document errors or equipment malfunctions; escalates issues and concerns to Regional Manager and/or Director of Clinical Services and/or Cardiologist. Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge and permitted by the policies and procedures of Pediatric Associates and other local, state, and federal guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION

High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program. Experience may be commensurate with education.

EXPERIENCE

Pediatric Cardiac Ultrasound experience is a minimum of 3 years required.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION RDMS, RDCS

by Cardiovascular Credentialing International, CCI in Pediatric Echocardiography and BLS certification required. Upon hire, and for the duration of the employment period, driver’s license must be active and valid.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to perform necessary vital signs for pediatrics and obtain patient histories. Knowledge of basic medical terminology, and immunization requirements for children. Ability to assess emergency situations and act accordingly. Maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public. Knowledge of medical safety practices and standards. Ability to plan, prioritize, organize workflow. Ability to communicate clearly. Skill in maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in identifying problems and researching and recommending resolutions. Skill in preparing records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. Active CPR certification required.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Patient-facing May rotate working in the office and remote/telework. Working in a professional medical office environment. The position involves high & frequent call volumes. Environment requires ability to multi-task, communicate clearly & concise, data entry for extended period of times. May require sitting or standing for long periods, including stooping, bending stretching for files and supplies. Requires occasional lifting of files and boxes weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, type at 35 wpm, operate calculator, copier, and such other office equipment as necessary.
