Required Qualifications:

One year of recent experience as a CVOR surgical tech Current BLS Certification (AHA/ ARC)

Preferred Qualifications:

CST or nationally recognized equivalent certification Other certifications and licenses may be required for thisposition

Summary:

CVOR surgical technologists facilitates the safeand effective execution of cardiovascular surgical procedures underthe supervision of the surgeon. They are responsible for preparingthe operating room, maintaining sterile environments, ensuringequipment functionality, and anticipating the needs of the surgicalteam to maximize patient safety and procedural efficiency.

Essential Work Functions:

Set up the operating room prior to surgical procedures Stock surgical supplies and inspect surgical machines andequipment to ensure proper functionality prior to procedures Assist in Transporting patients to and from surgery asrequired Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists,and the surgical team to deliver coordinated care Anticipating the surgeon’s needs and efficiently passinginstruments are essential for maintaining procedural flow Handle specimens with precision and care to maintain diagnosticintegrity and follow institutional protocols Collaborate with other health team members to ensure seamlesssurgical workflow Maintain sterility by cleaning and sterilizing instruments andequipment in compliance with infection control standards Utilize data from surgical preference cards for the surgicalprocedure and surgeon Maintain proficiency in cardiovascular and cardiothoracicsurgical procedures, including open and closed heart surgeries Perform other duties as assigned within the scope ofpractice Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection controlguidelines, and regulatory standards

Required Essential Skills:

Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonalcommunication skills The ability to read, write, & communicate in the Englishlanguage is required Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbalinstructions, and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities

  • Remain in a stationary position, moveabout, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending Interpersonal Skills
  • To work effectively with a variety ofpersonnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positiveattitude and professionalism Technical/Motor Skills
  • Ability to grasp, fine manipulation,pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting withprocedures and/or using department equipment. Mental Requirements
  • Must be able to cope with frequentcontact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlinesunder pressure. Must be able to work under close supervisionoccasionally as well as working without assistance from otherpersonnel.
