In collaborationwith staff radiologists, this job independently performs advanceddiagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with prescribedsafety procedures and protocols. - Completion of a CAHEA approved formal training program indiagnostic medical sonography. Work Experience Required

Preferred
- 2 years of sonographer experience. CertificationsRequired
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) orregistry eligible (required within 1 year of hire).
Advancedcertification in area(s) of specialty according to facility need.
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Proficiency in usingcomputers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbaland written communication skills and ability to present informationclearly and professionally to varying levels of individualsthroughout the patient care process
- Knowledge of the anatomy ofthe liver, gallbladder, aorta, spleen, kidneys, bile ducts, andpancreas and ability to perform abdominal ultrasound and thepathology of these organs to provide radiologists with apreliminary diagnosis.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g.24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability). Job Duties
- Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.
- Usesradiology information systems to facilitate care.
- Explainsprocedure to patient to ensure understanding.
- Independentlyoperates equipment to complete imaging procedure according toprotocol (including assisting radiologists in guided procedures ina variety of settings).
- Reviews patient images prior totransmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
- Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance withregulatory standards and performing notification/remediation aswarranted.
- Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations(inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
- Adaptsbehavior to the specific patient population, including but notlimited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to thepatient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to beperformed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as required.
