This job providesindividualized, direct patient care of assigned patients byperforming a variety of sonographic procedures and/or tests, notlimited to electrocardiograms and associated stress tests,echocardiograms to include 2D/M Mode, Doppler and Color Flowimaging, Exercise Stress Echo and Dobutamine Stress Echo. Compileshistory and diagnostic information from the examination, andpresenting the preliminary sonographic findings. Provides thehighest quality personalized patient care and maintains a positivework relationship with the health care team. Education Required
- High school diploma or equivalent. Work Experience Required
- None.
Preferred
- 1 year of experience in cardiac ultrasound.
Certifications Required
- Active RDCS registry through ARDMSCredentialing Agency or RCS registry through CCI CredentialingAgency within 6 months of completing the required 12 month clinicalexperience period. Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American HeartAssociation. Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Generalknowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, and the hemodynamicsof blood flow in relation to the various disease states.
- Abilityto preliminarily identify stenosis or occlusion based on nationallypublished criteria.
- Ability to assist attending physicians withinterventional procedures requiring ultrasonic guidance.
- Abilityto provide care and/or support services in a manner consistent withthe patient’s age, social, spiritual, and cultural needs and otherspecial consideration.
- Proficiency in using computers, software,and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and writtencommunication skills and ability to present information clearly andprofessionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to workefficiently and calmly under pressure.
- Ability to work with andmaintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to be self-directed andfunction without direct supervision.
- Ability and willingness tohave and maintain flexibility in work duties and hours (may requireflexible schedule such as nights, evenings, weekends, holidays,extended shifts, etc.). Job Duties

Dutiesperformed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid andtissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in anarea where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/orworks with specimens that could contain communicable diseases.
There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicablediseases. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting,there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardousmedications or hazardous waste within the environment throughreceipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing,administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
