Required Qualifications:
One year’s recentexperience as a Cardiac Cath Lab Tech Current BLS (AHA/ARC)
Certification ARRT, RCES, or RCIS Certification Current ACLSCertification Preferred Qualifications:
Valid RadiologicTechnologist license in compliance within state regulations PALS orENPC Certifications Other certifications and licenses may berequired for this position
Summary:
The Cath Lab Technologist isresponsible for assisting in diagnostic and interventionalcardiovascular procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. Thisrole involves preparing patients and equipment, monitoringhemodynamic data, assisting physicians during procedures, andensuring patient safety throughout the process. The technologistoperates specialized imaging equipment, maintains steriletechnique, and collaborates with the healthcare team to providehigh-quality patient care. This position requires technicalexpertise in cardiovascular procedures, critical thinking skills,and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations.
Essential Work Functions:
Prepare and position patients for cardiaccatheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiologystudies, and other interventional procedures Assist physiciansduring procedures by passing catheters, wires, balloons, andstents, and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoringequipment Operate and maintain imaging equipment, contrastinjectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems, ensuring properfunctionality Ability to scrub in and assist with sterile fieldsetup, ensuring adherence to infection control and proceduralprotocols Perform sheath removal and hemostasis using manualcompression or closure devices as directed Maintain accuratedocumentation, including patient records, imaging data, andequipment logs Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies,and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medicationsAdhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring proper use of leadaprons, shields, and dosimeters Ensure compliance with hospitalpolicies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements Adhere tohospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, andregulatory standards Perform other duties as assigned within thescope of practice
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking,service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills Theability to read, write, & communicate in the English language isrequired Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, followverbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills PhysicalAbilities
- Remain in a stationary position, move about, moveequipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending InterpersonalSkills
- To work effectively with a variety of personnel(professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude andprofessionalism Technical/Motor Skills
- Ability to grasp, finemanipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assistingwith procedures and/or using department equipment. MentalRequirements
- Must be able to cope with frequent contact with thegeneral public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure.
Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally as wellas working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able tocontend with irregular activity schedules occasionally andcontinuous concentration to detail Sensory
