In collaborationwith staff radiologists, this job independently performs advanceddiagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with prescribedsafety procedures and protocols. This job is a clinical mentor forjunior staff and students. Education Required
- Completion of aCAHEA approved formal training program in Diagnostic MedicalSonography. Work Experience Required

- 2 yearsSonographer experience Certifications Required
- RegisteredDiagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible(required within 1 year of hire) Advanced certification in area(s)of specialty according to facility need Basic Life Support (BLS)from the American Heart Association Knowledge Skills and Abilities(KSAs)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for dataentry and retrieval of patient information.
- Must be proficientwith Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbaland written communication skills and the ability to presentinformation clearly and professionally to varying levels ofindividuals throughout the patient care process
- Must havecomputer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrievalof information
- Must be proficient with Windows-styleapplications, various software packages specific to role andkeyboard
- Knowledge of the anatomy of the liver, gallbladder,aorta, spleen, kidneys, bile ducts, and pancreas to performabdominal ultrasound and the pathology of these organs to provideradiologists with a preliminary diagnosis Job Duties
- Verifiesphysician order and procedure to assure accuracy
- Utilizesradiology information systems to facilitate care
- Explainsprocedure to patient to ensure understanding
- Independentlyoperates equipment to complete imaging procedure according toprotocol (including assisting radiologists in guided procedures ina variety of settings)
- Reviews patient images prior totransmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
- Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance withregulatory standards and performing notification/remediation aswarranted.
- Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations(inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.)
- Adaptsbehavior to the specific patient population, including but notlimited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to thepatient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to beperformed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Otherrelated duties as required.
