RequiredQualifications:
- One year’s recent experience as a Cardiac CathLab Tech
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification
- ARRT, RCES, orRCIS Certification
- Current ACLS (AHA/ARC)
Certification PreferredQualifications:
- Valid Radiologic Technologist license incompliance within state regulations
- PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPCCertifications
- Other certifications and licenses may be requiredfor this position
Summary:
The Cath Lab Technologist is responsiblefor assisting in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascularprocedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. This role involvespreparing patients and equipment, monitoring hemodynamic data,assisting physicians during procedures, and ensuring patient safetythroughout the process. The technologist operates specializedimaging equipment, maintains sterile technique, and collaborateswith the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care. Thisposition requires technical expertise in cardiovascular procedures,critical thinking skills, and the ability to work efficiently inhigh-pressure situations.
Essential Work Functions:
- Prepare andposition patients for cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stentplacement, electrophysiology studies, and other interventionalprocedures
- Assist physicians during procedures by passingcatheters, wires, balloons, and stents, and operating fluoroscopyand hemodynamic monitoring equipment
- Operate and maintain imagingequipment, contrast injectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems,ensuring proper functionality
- Ability to scrub in and assist withsterile field setup, ensuring adherence to infection control andprocedural protocols
- Perform sheath removal and hemostasis usingmanual compression or closure devices as directed
- Maintainaccurate documentation, including patient records, imaging data,and equipment logs
- Assist with inventory management, stockingsupplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments andmedications
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring properuse of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters
- Ensure compliancewith hospital policies, safety guidelines, and regulatoryrequirements
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infectioncontrol guidelines, and regulatory standards
- Perform other dutiesas assigned within the scope of practice Required Essential Skills
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonalcommunication skills
- The ability to read, write, & communicate inthe English language is required
- Ability to read/comprehendwritten instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiencyin PC skills
- Physical Abilities
- Remain in a stationaryposition, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling,bending
- Interpersonal Skills
- To work effectively with a varietyof personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positiveattitude and professionalism
- Technical/Motor Skills
- Ability tograsp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move aboutwhen assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
- Mental Requirements
- Must be able to cope with frequent contactwith the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines underpressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionallyas well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must beable to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally andcontinuous concentration to detail
