RequiredQualifications:
  • One year’s recent experience as a Cardiac CathLab Tech
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification
  • ARRT, RCES, orRCIS Certification
  • Current ACLS Certification PreferredQualifications:
  • Valid Radiologic Technologist license incompliance within state regulations
  • PALS or ENPC Certifications
  • Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
Summary:

The Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting indiagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in thecardiac catheterization lab. This role involves preparing patientsand equipment, monitoring hemodynamic data, assisting physiciansduring procedures, and ensuring patient safety throughout theprocess. The technologist operates specialized imaging equipment,maintains sterile technique, and collaborates with the healthcareteam to provide high-quality patient care. This position requirestechnical expertise in cardiovascular procedures, critical thinkingskills, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressuresituations.

Essential Work Functions:
  • Prepare and positionpatients for cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement,electrophysiology studies, and other interventional procedures
  • Assist physicians during procedures by passing catheters, wires,balloons, and stents, and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamicmonitoring equipment
  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment,contrast injectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems, ensuringproper functionality
  • Ability to scrub in and assist with sterilefield setup, ensuring adherence to infection control and proceduralprotocols
  • Perform sheath removal and hemostasis using manualcompression or closure devices as directed
  • Maintain accuratedocumentation, including patient records, imaging data, andequipment logs
  • Assist with inventory management, stockingsupplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments andmedications
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring properuse of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters
  • Ensure compliancewith hospital policies, safety guidelines, and regulatoryrequirements
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infectioncontrol guidelines, and regulatory standards
  • Perform other dutiesas assigned within the scope of practice Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonalcommunication skills
  • The ability to read, write, & communicate inthe English language is required
  • Ability to read/comprehendwritten instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiencyin PC skills

  • Remain in a stationaryposition, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling,bending
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • To work effectively with a varietyof personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positiveattitude and professionalism
  • Technical/Motor Skills
  • Ability tograsp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move aboutwhen assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
  • Mental Requirements
  • Must be able to cope with frequent contactwith the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines underpressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionallyas well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must beable to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally andcontinuous concentration to detail
