https://www.aikenregional.com The CardiacCatherization Tech assist Technologists, Technicians, andPhysicians in performing radiologic, paramedical, hemodynamic,therapeutic, and clerical duties required in the care andassistance of patients. Complete billing, prolog, and databaseinformation, stock supplies and maintain equipment.

Duties:

Administers medications commonly used in the Cardiovascular Labunder direct supervision of a Physician Perform routine proceduresin accordance with established protocol. Demonstrates an awarenessof radiation safety procedures for self and others. Wearsprotective clothing, glasses, and remains behind protectiveenclosure during x-ray exposure. Monitors procedures with skill inusing specialized equipment as assigned in accordance withestablished protocols. Assists the physician in the response to andmanagement of all emergency situations. Demonstrates the ability toperform in an accurate and timely manner during critical oremergency situations. Utilizes necessary accessories to enhanceimage quality. Demonstrates skills needed to monitor patient’shemodynamics, recognizing changes, and implementing appropriateinterventions that meet our standards of patient care. Ability torecognize EKG tracing changes in-patient and responds according toprotocol. Monitors procedures with skill in using specializedequipment as assigned in accordance with established protocols.

Demonstrates ability to function as a Scrub Tech during CardiacCath procedures, observes sterile field guidelines, practicesaseptic techniques, and strictly obeys isolation and infectioncontrol policies. Responsible for knowing and maintaining themeasurements described in the conscious sedation policy. Removecatheters and sheaths from patients and monitors homeostasisaccording to established protocols. Understands the procedures ofthe observation area. Demonstrates ability to assist in thedocumentation of Quality Control and Preventive Maintenance.

Completes documentation required by Cardiac Cath Lab, hospital,state, and federal requirements. Monitors and documents supplies onthe crash cart. Assists in the transportation of patients andensures the patient is properly covered and continues assessmentHandles telephone information requests with courtesy, accuracy, andrespect for confidentiality. Maintains confidentiality and privacyof all data, records, forms, reports and procedures and any otherinformation regarding customer relations of

Provides explanation of procedures and properly records thiseducation on patients’ charts prior to performance of procedure;transfers patient to examination table, positions patientcorrectly, and assists patient at end of procedure. Delivers directpatient care appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Responsible for utilization of physiological monitoring andrecording apparatus during special procedures. Ensures that allpatient charges are properly recorded and sent to the appropriatelocation. Monitors and documents supplies on crash cart.

Responsible for supply utilization and ongoing maintenance. Assistsin the inventory stocking and updating throughout the department.

Prepares room, equipment, contrast media and materials as neededfor procedures. Responsible for maintaining a clean, well-stockedand safe working environment; responsible for checking and testingequipment prior to use. Properly warms equipment daily, and assuresequipment is working properly. If equipment is not functioningproperly, notifies the appropriate person. Will perform a spongecount prior to the start of a pacemaker procedure and at the closeof the procedure.

On-Call:

Reports within 30 minutes for a call in.

Has been scheduled for on-call services a fair share of the on-call schedule. Responsible for reading and reviewing all materialin departmental manuals yearly. Must attend mandatory Hospitalin-service annually and implement the safety precautions that aredetailed in that education. Attends all staff meetings unlessabsent from work or excused by Supervisor. Practices patient careaccording to ARMC policy.
