JobSummaryUnder the direct and indirect supervision of the PediatricCardiologists and the clinical supervisor, providesechocardiographic imaging of the pediatric and adult patient withcongenital heart disease. Facilitates continuity of quality care byinterfacing with physician, nursing, child life, and hospitaldepartment staff. Ensures the effective and efficient delivery ofquality diagnostic imaging and reporting for the patients medicalrecord and treatment plan.

Performs most modalities of echocardiography (i.e. 2-D, M-Mode,Doppler, and color flow Doppler imaging, as well as assists withqualified physician with TEE procedures). Performs lab proceduresusing independent judgement during the exam to accuratelydifferentiate between normal and abnormal findings. Exams mustfollow IAC approved scanning protocol and the Smart Protocols mustbe utilized when possible. Reviews images and paperwork to ensurequality exams are complete, thorough and prepared for review byreading physicians Rotates to multiple lab locations as scheduled and required bythe IAC. Participates in the daily workflow by observing thesonographer worklist to ensure timely patient care. Schedules examsthrough the transport system if applicable. Participates in the Labafter hours, on-call, weekend and holiday schedules. Operates all lab testing equipment and software packagesincluding but not limited to ultrasound and physiologicalequipment, EMR and Structured Reporting and PACS. Reports anyequipment issues to the appropriate personnel and removes equipmentfrom service. Cleans the equipment and work areas daily and stocksrooms with supplies and linen. Maintains up to date maintenancelogs to include the monthly cleaning log and the equipment downtime log. Attends staff/departmental meetings and educationalconferences. Participates in discussions. Keeps abreast of changesin the field and participates in collecting data, images andarticles. Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/ManagementResponsibilities This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor,manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements Education
- Associate degree. Graduate of a formal radiology orsonography program Experience
- One (1) year echo sonography experience performingnon-invasive cardiac ultrasound studies.
Clinical rotations duringa formal educational program may be considered as experience.
InLieu Of In Lieu of the education and experience requirements notedabove, five (5) years of dedicated cardiac ultrasound experiencemay be considered. Team members in this job as of 11/08/2020 are grandfatheredfrom the minimum requirements listed above. Additionally, may begrandfathered from obtaining required registration pending stateand regulatory requirements.
