PrimaryDuties:

Administers contrast media into the coronary arteries asdirected by a Cardiologist during a cardiac catheterizationprocedure. Recognizes the effect of pathology and vital signs to-determine

• the amount of pressure of each hand injection.
• Appliesknowledge of the normal physiologic and electrocardiographicsequences of cardiac contraction and recognizes both minor anddangerous arrhythmia. Provides
• appropriate patient
• care as-required.
• Functions as a first assistant to the physician byscrubbing independently and aiding in the manipulation andplacement of guide wires and catheters. Administers contrast media-in accordance with
• physician instruction.
• Schedules and-maintains
• orderly patient flowMaintains adequate basicinterventional and cardiac supplies, all
• appropriate patient-records and department check sheets.
• Orders supplies from outsidevendors in hospital
• purchasing
• system.
• Assists
• supervisor withall aspects of inventory control.
• Correctly enters patient andsupply information into the RIS and/or hospital computer system
• Performs
• hemodynamic physiologic patient monitoring, recordingcalculations of cardiovascular procedures,
• angiographic,therapeutic, and interventional imaging procedures. Performselectrophysiology and ablation procedures. Provides quality patientcare and
• monitoring
• during all phases of the procedure
• inaccordance with
• physician instructions and established policy.

Hasknowledge of all equipment, inventory, and location of supplies.

Operates emergency equipment safely.

Responds to on-call emergencies-in accordance withdepartment policy.

• Responsible for-pre-procedural duties such as sterile tray preparation, proceduralpatient education, and confirmation of required lab work andpatient medical history, including indications for the study andall

• related exams; as well as
• post-procedural dutiesincluding observation and management of catheter and/or deviceinsertion site and patient discharge instructions.
• Provides-patient transportation and communicates patient care status to-the receiving
• care unit.

Qualifications:

Satisfactory completion of an AMA-approved schoolof Radiologic Technology of at least 2 years duration.2

• years’experience
• in diagnostic radiology.

Experience in interventionalradiology/cardiac catheterization or equivalent.

American Registryof Radiologic Technology

• (ARRT) certification or registration
• Radiology Technologist license in the State of Maryland.
• Advanced-Cardiac Life Support
• (ACLS) certification or eligibility.
