What You’ll Do:
Surgical Preparation & Assistance Ensure OR rooms, supplies, and equipment are prepared for efficient perioperative processes. Have sterile instruments, sutures, and equipment ready for cardiovascular procedures. Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping according to standards and policies. Participate in surgical site verification and time-out procedures.
Sterile Field & Patient Safety Maintain the highest standards of sterile technique throughout procedures. Perform initial and ongoing instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator. Prepare and handle surgical specimens appropriately. Assist with lifting, turning, and positioning patients while ensuring proper body mechanics.
Post-Surgical & Environmental Maintenance Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization. Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe OR environment. Help with terminal cleaning of rooms and proper disposal of hazardous materials.
Competencies & Compliance Demonstrate knowledge in infection control, emergency management, safety, and OR procedures. Follow hospital policies for patient care, documentation, and communication. Use standard precautions and PPE when handling hazardous substances.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technology Program Must obtain NBSTSA certification within 6 months of graduating Commitment to learning in a high-stakes surgical environmentWhy This Role? PRN flexibility
