ResponsibilitiesThe Patient CareSpecialist (PCS) provides direct and indirect patient care underthe supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) and accepts delegationfrom care team members: physicians, advanced practice providers,RN, LPN, MA in meeting the needs of the patient/family. The directcare role includes providing care, collecting and documentingpatient care data and communicating information to patients,families, and care team members. In the indirect patient care role,the PCS supports the unit by helping to maintain the environment ofcare and performing unit-based clerical duties. The PCSdemonstrates strong organizational skills and teamwork. Acommitment to continuous learning, quality, and excellence areimportant components of this role. Utilization of multiple computerapplications is required. This role will work with patientsthroughout the life span with multiple conditions.
Qualifications18years old. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Basic computer skills and experience with other technologicaldevices (i.e. cell phone, laptop, etc.). Ability to work irregularhours (days, evenings, holidays, weekends).Self-motivated/independent. Able and willing to work with allpopulations served.
High School Graduate or GED equivalencypreferred. Working knowledge of computers and software applicationsrequired. Demonstrated ability to react calmly and effectively inemergency situations. Ability to establish and maintain effectiveworking relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
Must be well organized, detail-oriented, accurate and efficient.
Preferred:
PCS, HUC, MA, NS, Ward Clerk experience. Preferreddemonstration of medical terminology.
Current Basic Life Support forHealth Care Providers from one of the following programs isrequired: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. If acandidate does not currently have the required certification,education and testing will be included as part of the orientationand training program.
