At North Georgia Programs and Services, we are proud to house the North Georgia Long-Term Care Ombudsman (LTCO) program. Long-Term Care Ombudsman Representatives (LTCORs) play a pivotal role in long-term care advocacy, conducting routine visits, investigating complaints, and providing valuable information and assistance to residents, families, and facility staff. Advocacy Role:
Be the voice for residents in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and personal care homes, ensuring their rights and quality of care are upheld. Contribute to system-level advocacy, educating residents, families, and the general public to improve the long-term care system for current and future residents.
Responsibilities and Highlights:
Dynamic Engagement:
Conduct routine visits, complaint investigations, and additional monitoring visits to long-term care facilities, providing information and assistance to residents and their families. Advocate for residents’ rights through regional, state, and federal efforts, shaping a better future for those in long-term care.
Educational Initiatives:
Attend Resident Council Meetings, complete staff education sessions, and actively participate in community education to raise awareness about the LTCO program. Qualifications that
Matter:
Educational Background :
An undergraduate degree with at least two years of professional experience, preferably in aging, gerontology, long term care, or related fields. A strong commitment to advocacy, ability to pass a criminal background check, and a valid driver’s license for frequent car travel. Excellent written and oral communication skills, public speaking abilities, and the knack for building rapport and trust. Comfortable using digital communication methods and devices, with equipment provided. Stable and reliable internet connection is required, as the role involves remote work and frequent online communication. The ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure is crucial. We value individuals with exceptional organizational skills and a keen sense of judgment.
