out of 5 stars 1300 Baxter Street, Charlotte, NC 28204 Summary The Assessment Specialist will produce preplacement assessments and other documents used by a variety of agencies and individuals who have contracted with Children’s Home Society of NC. This position will respond timely to requests for assessments and provide a thorough assessment of a family’s ability to provide a permanent, safe, and loving home for a child. Primary Job Functions Duties Assess family’s ability to provide a safe, loving, and stable home for children using home visits, agency’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws for preplacement assessments, updates, addendums, post placement visits, reports to the court, and completion of 1808 as well as other required documentation Prepare documentation to include Pre-Placement Assessments, Post-Placement Reports, Stepparent and Relative Adoption reports, updates, addendums, and home inspections Identify strengths and concerns regarding the family’s ability to provide a safe, stable, and healthy home environment Produce a well written preplacement assessment and other requested program documentation Work with families in a respectful, family-centered manner and to support families contracting with CHS Contact family in timely manner within 7 business days of case assignment and follow up as case requires Participate in quarterly team meetings Perform other duties related to department or division goals and projects as needed, including, but not limited to, birth parent work Contribute to a positive, engaging work environment. Display sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics Demonstrate the CHS Mission, Vision, and Values in the performance of all job duties. Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues and trends. Participate actively in departmental meetings, training, and education, as well as the quality process. Comply with CHS’s code of conduct, policies, procedures, and other obligations. Perform other duties related to department goals and projects as needed.
Education, Licenses & Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or other human services field
Experience:
Strong working knowledge of North Carolina Home Study policy requirements Competencies Skills and Proficiency in: Strong organizational skills, resources development and budget development experience a plus Strong working knowledge of human service systems for youth, young adults, and families and an ability to bring together and collaborate with diverse community partners Excellent oral and written communication skills with proven effective organizational and time management skills Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Applications as well as electronic data systems, time sheets, expense reports, use of virtual platforms for meetings) Ability to: Ability to work independently from a home office and maintain adherence to deadlines. Must be physically able to use standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines Must be physically able to transport clients in own vehicle, conduct on-site visits, and able to lift/move up to 25 pounds while supporting needs of the clients Frequent travel required Availability for occasional evening and weekend hours Maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license, adequate auto insurance, and have access to an operating vehicle to attend to CHS business Schedule Expectations This position is a salary exempt job that will require some weekends, and evenings work. Along with working our standard scheduled week. The ability to work flexible hours is required to meet business needs. If working remotely, will be required to be available by telephone and email during specified hours as required. Frequent travel required to conduct business-related activities.
