About the
Job:
You will be responsible for leadership of the Language Services and Accessibility program and for overseeing and managingpliance of and with Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act within the Elliot Hospital System (EHS).
What You’ll Do:
Language Services and Accessibility Program Management
Develops management plan and administers the Language Services and Accessibility program, coordinating with all inpatient units, outpatient departments, and state andmunity agencies.
Acts as the institutional resource and advocate for those patients and/orpanions who require language services and/or accessibility.
Auxiliary Aids
Responsible for the establishment and oversight of a system to ensure patients andpanions requiring auxiliary aids receive them in a timely manner.
Responsible for the coordination, maintenance, repair, replacement, and distribution of auxiliary aids to ensure that adequate supplies are available as needed throughout the EHS.
Education
Provides training and education to EHS staff and providers at orientation and on an ongoing basis regarding the Language Services and Accessibility program, the population requiring the services, and the systems in place to provide access to patients and/orpanions who need it.
Interpreting
Responsible for the establishment and oversight of a system to ensure patients andpanions requiring interpreting services receive them in a timely and appropriate manner.
Ensures all interpreters engaged in the provision of interpreting services with the EHS (both spoken language and sign language) are appropriately credentialed and qualified.
Coordinates and manages all interpreters used within the EHS including employed staff and contracted interpreters.
NOTE:
Provides resources through the provision of ASL Interpreter services when available.
Section 1557
Develops, implements, and monitors policies to ensurepliance with Section 1557 of the ACA.
Designs and conducts training sessions for staff and stakeholders on Section 1557 requirements including nondiscrimination policies and procedures. Updates trainingponents as needed.
Who You Are:
Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
Current and valid New Hampshire Sign language Interpreter License
Previous related experience (2-4 years). Knowledge and experience with various cultures served by the EHS, including the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community. Experience in overseeing operations across multiple sites.
