Job Description
The primary focus of the nursing quality specialist role is to provide quality, safety and service infrastructure support for the Department of Nursing. Nursing quality specialists partner with clinical nurse specialists, nurse managers, nurse supervisors, nurse administrators, and other departmental leaders and staff in operationalizing the departmental operational plan and initiatives that relate to quality, safety and service and in achieving Magnet Redesignation. The nursing quality specialists coordinate departmental quality, safety, and service programs and activities. Key components of the nursing quality specialist role are to serve as a departmental resource, and consultant related to practice improvement measurement. The nursing quality specialist establishes, maintains, coordinates and evaluates quality data processes so that meaningful information is available for departmental quality activities. The individual develops and maintains expertise in quality improvement methodologies. The nursing quality specialist must be able to define, prioritize and achieve goals and objectives with a focus on outcomes. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification Master’s degree in Nursing or a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a Master’s degree in business or a health-related field. Minimum of two years experience as a RN within the past five years.
Additional Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise in clinical nursing processes and quality methodologies. Expertise in evaluation techniques and data analysis. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects. Bronze and Silver certification with the Mayo Quality Fellows certification preferred.
License or Certifications:
Current RN license by applicable state requirements. Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
