A Sample Management Specialist supports biobanking operationsefficiently and effectively while independently leading sample dataprocesses. Possesses an in-depth knowledge and understanding ofclinical and non-clinical study protocols and associateddocumentation. Multi-tasks and shifts priorities based oncommunicated department needs. Under supervision, may managebiospecimen operations for assigned clinical or non-clinicalstudies. Works closely with clients to understand and help resolvetheir needs to meet timelines. The incumbent is active in assessingand investigating new opportunities that will lead to increasedefficiencies and improved productivity with regards to biobankingoperations. As a Sample Management Specialist, a typical day mightinclude: Trains on clinical/non-clinical study protocols andassociated study documentation to build knowledge of study conductas it pertains to biospecimen management. Implements studyreference file creation by interpreting protocols and otherapplicable data inputs. Performs the accessioning and receipt ofnon-clinical/clinical samples by assessing and verifying data, bothmanually and with automated platforms such as Microsoft VBA andStreamlit. Can identify and communicate issues with automatedplatforms to drive resolution. May begin to troubleshoot issues. Isresponsible for the execution of reconciliation and data cleaningof biospecimens to drive deliverables forward. Is responsible forthe review of study documents to support study start up andprotocol amendments with limited guidance. Collaborates andmaintains effective verbal and written communication with internaland/or external stakeholders to facilitate data discrepancyresolution. Communicates with CROs and third-party vendors tosupport biospecimen operations and drives issue resolution. Has anadvanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and can independently analyzediscrepancies in sample metadata using complex formulas. Optimallyexecutes necessary operations in applicable software systems (e.g.,LIMS, ELN, etc.) to perform specimen and data management. Has theability to identify and troubleshoot complex challenges.

Responsible for the operation of automated sample storage systems.

May assist in troubleshooting automated equipment. Fulfillsclinical and/or non-clinical sample requests to support bioanalysisdeliverables as well as company-wide research initiatives.

Facilitates the completion and review sample transferdocumentation, as applicable. Is adept at identifying andtroubleshooting problems pertaining to clinical/non-clinicalprotocols and associated documents as well as routine samplemanagement processes and/or procedures. Is responsible forassigning and coordinating sample management activities forassigned programs to support high demand tasks. May managebiosample operations for assigned clinical/non-clinical studies toensure company deliverables are met and objectives are achievedunder guidance. Ensures a state of audit readiness. Activelyparticipates preparation of supporting documents for QualityAudits, as applicable. Participates in study audit activities. Actively participates in sub-group and/or departmentalmeetings and may share results or progress of work with others. Canbe counted on to exercise good judgment and decision-making basedon knowledge and experience, even in ambiguous and complexsituations. Engages in active questioning to understand the contextand interpretation of work. Ensures compliance and properdocumentation in accordance with SOPs, and applicable regulations.

Communicates effectively with his/her manager and actively seeksout feedback to deepen self-development. Responsible for his/herown safety in the laboratory, as well as for the safety ofco-workers and visitors. To be considered for this role, you musthave: Bachelors degree or a Masters degree Typically, 4 plus yearsof relevant post-degree laboratory experience for Bachelors degree;Typically, 2 plus years of relevant post-degree laboratoryexperience for Masters degree.
