CSI Companies is actively hiring for a Remote Insurance Follow-Up/Denials Specialist (Epic Go-Live Support) for one of our top healthcare clients.
Hours:
40 hours/week; Monday – Friday, standard business hours in EST

$21-23/hour based on experience, education, and credentials

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Insurance Follow-Up/Denials Specialist to support our client’s Epic go-live initiative. This role is critical in identifying, triaging, and resolving denied claims during the implementation phase and beyond. The ideal candidate will have experience with rural health or critical access billing, ideally within the Thrive environment. You will not be writing clinical appeals, but will play a vital role in navigating denials, determining next steps, and ensuring timely resolution.
Job Responsibilities:
Review denied claims in Epic and identify reasons for denial
Triage claims appropriately—determine whether the denial should be worked directly or referred to another department (e.g., coding, clinical documentation, registration)
Contact payers as needed to gather additional details on denial reasons
Take action on non-clinical denials to ensure timely and accurate resolution
Document actions and next steps in Epic in accordance with organizational standards
Collaborate with billing, coding, and clinical teams to ensure smooth handoffs and prevent future denials
Monitor trends and flag systemic issues or payer-specific challenges
Support clean-up and resolution efforts related to Epic conversion
Maintain productivity and quality standards while working independently
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required
2+ years of insurance follow-up or denials management experience
Familiarity with Epic and experience supporting Epic go-lives
Strong understanding of rural health clinic (RHC) or critical access hospital (CAH) billing
Experience working in or familiarity with the Thrive billing environment is strongly preferred
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to interpret payer responses and collaborate across departments
