Responsibilities:
The Manager of Satellite Laboratories is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of multiple satellite laboratory facilities, including Point of Care Testing and Operating Room Laboratory. This role ensures that all laboratories operate in compliance with regulatory standards, company policies, and quality control guidelines. The manager will lead, supervise, and mentor laboratory staff, coordinate logistics, ensure resource allocation, and manage budgets to optimize efficiency and productivity.
Operations Management:
Oversee day-to-day operations of multiple satellite laboratories (including Point of Care Testing), ensuring smooth functioning and operational efficiency; Develop and implement operational procedures and protocols across all satellite sites to maintain consistency and quality; Coordinate with the central laboratory and management team to align the satellite labs’ functions with overall company goals.
Staff Supervision:
Lead, supervise, and mentor laboratory personnel, including MT (MLS), MLT, and support staff; Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement staff development and training programs; Ensure that all laboratories are adequately staffed, and assist in recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts.
Quality Control and Compliance:
Maintain strict adherence to laboratory regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission) and ensure compliance with safety protocols; Ensure all laboratories meet quality control guidelines and implement corrective actions when necessary; Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory standards.
Resource Management:
Manage inventory, supplies, and equipment for satellite labs, ensuring availability and functionality; Coordinate logistics for the acquisition, storage, and distribution of laboratory resources; Ensure cost-effective use of resources and work within established budgets.
Reporting and Data Management:
Oversee the documentation and reporting processes for laboratory results and ensure accuracy in data handling; Provide regular reports to senior management on laboratory performance, productivity, and any operational issues; Collaborate with IT and data teams to ensure proper management of laboratory information systems.
Budgeting and Financial Management:
Develop and manage the annual budget for satellite laboratories, working to optimize cost-effectiveness without compromising quality; Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
Act as the primary point of contact between satellite labs and management; Represent the satellite laboratories in meetings and strategic discussions with key stakeholders; Regular and prompt attendance; Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; Related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and six years of laboratory experience. Supervisory experience required. Current registry with ASCP as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist
