Supervisor Medical Laboratory 3.2 3.2 out of 5 stars 4801 Ambassador Caffery Parkway, Lafayette, LA 70508 Position is responsible for daily oversight of all pre-analytical processes, workflow in and out of laboratory including all referral lab testing. Research and development of new testing and or techniques to enhance the test mix offered by the laboratory.
TECHNICAL TASKS
Performs all duties of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist Position is responsible for daily oversight of all Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Urinalysis workflow in and out of the core laboratory which includes calibrations, quality control, and testing. Research and development of new testing and or techniques to enhance the test mix offered by the laboratory. Performs all testing in Processing/Phlebotomy area. Ensures that STATS and ASAPs are collected and processed immediately when requested Performs calibrations and daily maintenance of instruments/equipment when necessary. Performs procedures according to policies and protocols set forth by the Laboratory and Hospital Identifies specimen issues and follows through on proper procedure and documentation. Accurately labels and processes specimens in a time manner. Ensures specimen stability and integrity is maintained in all pre analytical processes Logs in and calls panic values to doctors offices and/or nurses stations as needed. Ensures compliance with downtime procedures for Laboratory and patient care areas. Records and reports PI (Performance Improvement) data to QAQC Manager. Keeps abreast of changes, new instruments and procedures in assigned departments. Responsible for initiating policy/protocol/procedures needed to facilitate all pre analytical specimen processing needs. Supervisory-Supervises and directs activities of personnel assigned to the section. Assists in setting up service codes and charges on new or rare tests. Maintains adequate staffing to cover departments needs. Serves as clinical/technical support for Laboratory staff, all patient care staff and Outreach clients. Observes and reports, as needed, significant results to the laboratory Medical Director, pathologist, patients nurse, or physician. Instructs and orients staff to new instruments and procedures in the section. Provide input to the hiring and discipline of personnel. Evaluates personnel assigned to the section. Prepares and administers annual competency tests for staff. Serves as Laboratory liaison for students and their facilities. Attends Supervisor meetings, general lab meetings and other hospital meetings assigned by the Laboratory Director. Ensures optimal customer satisfaction in all aspects of position. Assumes ownership when handling customer requests and follows through with appropriate documentation. Coordinates training times for new employees, students clinical study. Other duties as assigned Five years experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Technology Familiarity with medical terminology, Basic computer literacy, Experience with Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and databases and with writing technical reports. LSBME Licensed as Clinical Lab Scientists, CLS-G or CLS-S. Certification by ASCP, AMT, NCA, or equivalent
