What You Can Expect This position is responsible forleading/directing/scheduling all laboratory activities for eitherthe Environmental Services Laboratory or the Microbiology ServicesLaboratory.
Responsibilities include:
Scheduling the dailylaboratory operations to ensure testing, results, procedures, anddocumentation are in compliance with current GMP.Preparing/Coordinating/Reviewing the testing results for productrelease, FDA submissions, foreign country product registrations,and compliance to current GMPs. Ensuring that all laboratoryequipment, calibrations, procedures and training are properlymaintained and compliant. How You’ll Create Impact Schedule andsupervise the daily operations of the laboratory to ensure testing,test results and documentation are in compliance with currentprocedures. Provide supervision, coordination, and assistance inconducting environmental assessments, environmental qualifications,validations and special projects as they occur.
Prepare/Review/Approve departmental documentation (Zimmer WorkInstructions, test protocols, validation documents, technicalreports, etc.). Collect, enumerate, analyze and report laboratorydata for qualifications, validations, trending and specialprojects. Assist Manufacturing in troubleshooting issues inenvironmentally controlled areas, product bioburden, orsterilization. Provide assistance and technical knowledge in cleanroom design, behavior, and sanitization. Conduct audits of vendors,contract laboratories and Zimmer facilities for compliance withapplicable procedures and techniques. Assess and implement (ifapplicable) new technologies that improve/automate laboratory ormanufacturing processes. Represents Zimmer on AAMI Standardscommittees. This is not an exhaustive list of duties or functionsand may not necessarily comprise all of the “essential functions”for purposes of the ADA. What Makes You Stand Out Ability to makeaccept/reject decisions based on clearly defined procedures andknowledge of clean room, microbiology, and sterilization technologyand standards. Creative and innovative problem solving skills. Musthave a basic knowledge of all Sterilization Technology relatedfields. These areas include clean rooms, sterilization of product,product packaging, water purification, and good manufacturingpractices. Must have prior experience with validation of industrialsterilization processes. Must have a thorough knowledge of MedicalDevice GMPs, industrial sterilization guidelines, and ISOstandards. Must possess excellent written and oral communicationskills. Experience in GMP auditing and preparation of procedures isdesirable. Your Background B.S. in Microbiology, Biology, MedicalTechnology, or other related field. 5-7 years of industry/labexperience required. Supervision experience preferred.
