What will you do as a PMC Medical Lab Technician/Medical Technologist (MLT/MT) The Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day technical supervision of the laboratory, including but not limited to: Specimen preparation and performance of all in house tests and procedures. Able to oversee all operations of the laboratory including employee scheduling and work assignments, analyzer maintenance and troubleshooting. Responsible for daily/weekly/monthly quality control charting, logging and reporting as needed. Ensure that each tech performs only those laboratory procedures that require a degree of skill commensurate with his/her education, training, and technical abilities. Supervises all Phlebotomists in Sanford PMC locations including training and competency assessment. Assists with implementation of department and institutional quality and strategic goals. Oversees continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives. A day in the life of a PMC Medical Lab Technician/Medical Technologist (MLT/MT) will include: Competency Assessments of all laboratory staff to ensure proficiency as well as annual performance reviews. Update and adherence to the laboratory safety policies and procedures. Development of written procedures for every test system performed in the laboratory. Preparation of work schedules, bench assignments, time off requests and unforeseen absences to assure consistent optimal workflow. Responsible for the performance of in house laboratory tests which may include collection of specimens. Maintains positive specimen identification throughout the laboratory testing and reporting process. Demonstrates the ability to work in all technical areas of the laboratory. Must understand all of the equipment and occasionally trouble shoot the instrument performance. Able to open the lab in the morning and close down the lab in the evening. Recognizes abnormal lab values. Follow protocol for rechecking, accepting, and calling results to the physician or designated clinical person. Maintains supplies ordering supplies. Maintains appropriate records (QC, specimen, instrument maintenance, etc.) as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
