DESCRIPTION
Position Title Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory Scientist Department/Facility Laboratory Qualifications Doctorates in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institute OR Masters in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institute AND 2-5 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience

Position Summary Leads and guides laboratory staff. Performs high complexity diagnostic tests. Prepares and tests specimens for examination and reports results. Performs all Quality Control procedures. Reviews, evaluates and documents all corrective actions. Performs purchasing activities and Inventory of laboratory reagents, supplies and consumables Principal Accountabilities Leads and guides lab technologists, lab technicians, and other laboratory staff. Acts as a resource when questions arise about laboratory policies and processes. Collaborates with management to maintain staffing and productivity monitors. Following the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, accessioning, test analyses, reporting to lab director and maintaining records of patient results Performs all Quality Control procedures, including accumulation and recording of data. Reviews, evaluates and documents all corrective action in accordance with established and required policies and procedures. Performs routine and/or preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment. Troubleshoots basic instrumentation, reagents, technical problems and methodologies. Maintains sufficient laboratory supplies through regular inventory checks. Assists in training programs. Trains lab techs in diagnostic testing and documentation requirements. Perform high complexity testing under the supervision of the laboratory director Executes research and development initiatives Uses Infection Control practices and procedures. Additional responsibilities include various duties as assigned by Director Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of principles, methods, materials, equipment and techniques of diagnostic laboratory procedures Skilled in supervising laboratory workflow processes Skilled in both verbal and written communication
