This position requires a strong background in clinical laboratory testing, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of laboratory practices.
- Complies with Laboratory Policies and Procedures
- Maintained annual review of Safety, Patient Rights, Infection Control, Personnel training and certificates
- Communicates effectively to all staff: brings problems and non-conformities to the attention of laboratory management.
- Demonstrates leadership and problem solving capabilities
- Effectively manages and allocates assets for effective daily lab operations
- Manages personnel effectively and supervises all test performances in maintaining effective daily lab operations
- Reviews Quality Control to monitor and ensure that acceptable performance specifications are maintained
- Monitors scheduled instrument and equipment maintenance
- Effectively performs quality assurance activities assigned: (monitors Turn around Time, quality Indicators, critical value reporting, maintaining qc records, lot verifications, correlations, applicable calibration records, and other tasks)
- Initiates preventive and/or remedial actions when test procedures deviate from established specifications (Laboratory Non-conformance Reports LNR)
- In the event of non-conformances, effectively ensures that test results are not reported until corrective action has been taken and the test is performing according to established specifications
- Verifies that the staff are trained and deemed proficient prior to performing testing on patient samples independently
- Ensures that staff are evaluated and have competency assessments/performance evaluations at least annually
- Takes action to improve performance when personnel do not perform as expected on competency assessments
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
Qualifications:
- New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license, Demonstrated leadership experience, with a proven ability to manage a team effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of clinical laboratory operations, methodologies, and quality assurance.
- Familiarity with the regulations and standards set by the DOH in New York State.
- ASCP Certification
- highly recommended Basic
- Computer Skills
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive clinical laboratory experience;
- (3) years in a management role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
