Compensation Range:
$39.09 – $50.82 The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximumpensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’spensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Under the close direction of the section Technical Laboratory Manager and/or the Laboratory Medical Director, and under general direction of the Laboratory Technical Supervisor, the Laboratory Assistant Supervisor (Microarray/OGM) is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the lab section (Microarray/OGM) to assure prompt reporting of laboratory results. The Assistant Supervisor (Microarray/OGM) will collaborate with the Assistant Supervisor of other laboratory sections to ensure adequate staffing, cross-training, and efficient daily operations. They will maintain instrumentation, equipment, and supplies, enforce department and laboratory policies, and engage in QA/QC review practices. Additionally, they will ensure proper training andpetency assessments for new staff in the lab section (Microarray/OGM).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative and Laboratory Operations (50%) Oversee the efficient operation of the Microarray/OGM lab section to ensure prompt reporting of laboratory results. Collaborate with Cytogenetics Lab Assistant Supervisors for efficient daily patient care operations. Cross-train staff between Microarray/OGM and Cytogenetics and maintain a workflow that engages technologists, allowing for mobility across lab sections and optimizing operations. Ensure instrumentation, equipment, and supplies are in good working order and follow up on any issues. Ads to staffing and human resources policies and manages personnel performance in coordination with lab supervisor. Technical Responsibilities (50%) Support the Medical Technologists with daily patient care operations, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues Performs the duties of a Medical Technologist as needed May perform the role of General Lab Supervisor as needed Quality and Process Improvement Maintains regulatorypliance in line with NYSDOH and CAP standards Participate in QA/QC review practices such as review of clinical cases and monthly QC review Education and Training Assists in the training and instruction of laboratory policies and procedures. Participates in continuing education; keeps abreast of new developments in Clinical Laboratory Science. Ensure training protocols are followed and new staff are adequately prepared to perform clinical work in the Microarray/OGM lab sections. Performpetency assessments to ensure employeepetence for all procedures related to conventional Microarray and
OGM. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related field and 4 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist Post-licensure required Or equivalentbination of education and experience Highlyanized and ability to multi-task, attention to detail preferred NYS Licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist upon hire required
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Hands-on technical expertise in Molecular diagnostic techniques preferred Demonstrated analytical ability to troubleshootplex molecular diagnostic workflows, including data quality assessment, assay performance issues, and instrumentation errors.
