Patient Service Center supervisor is responsible for the daily operations for all outpatient lab locations. This includes overall performance with Patient Service Center staff, ensuring organizational and regulatory compliance, optimizing work flow, maintaining high levels of patient satisfaction and effective measures with processing specimen. The PSC supervisor may perform duties as a phlebotomist and patient registration on a routine basis. Supervisor must supervise the phlebotomy draws, processing of specimens, positive patient identification and specimen storage is properly maintained. The supervisor will correlate with the Outpatient Lab Coordinator on assigned responsibilities including a daily schedule for all staff, staffing needs by location and maximizing total output. The supervisor oversees all audits for the Patient Service Center and makes sure the checklists and temperature charts have been properly filled out.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Supervise day to day staff activities with an effective approach to maximizing productivity. Create outpatient lab procedures and maintain current policies within Patient Service Centers. Proficient with specimen collection, order entry, registration techniques performed in the laboratory. Oversee outpatient lab training for all staff and educational opportunities. Effectively manage patient issues and collaborate with management on customer service needs. Ensure completion new-hire/annual staff training and competency assessments. Assists the department manager with introductory and annual performance evaluations. Maintains a compliant environment including adherence to all laboratory protocol, HIPPA standards, and infection control and safety guidelines. Manage patient flow, wait times, and inventory levels and information logs. Track and report quality metrics with patient visits, turnaround times, specimen rejection rates and create subsequent operational blueprints towards efficacy. Monitors patient as well as staff satisfaction and implements action plans to increase patient experience.

Required Skills and Experience:

High School Diploma or Equivalent 3 years prior phlebotomy experience and 2 years of EMR patient registration knowledge. 2 years working phlebotomy experience Vocational phlebotomy (or related) course/program and certification strongly preferred. Valid NYS Driver’s license. This position requires frequent travel to Cayuga Medical Center’s Laboratory Outpatient Service Centers. P referred

Skills and Experience:

Lab Experience Strongly Preferred. Problem solving ability and attention to detail is preferred Good written and oral communication skills preferred. Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes.

Physical Requirements :

May require heavy lifting (up to 50 Lbs.) and carrying supplies. Repetitive use of hands (e.g. computer keyboard usage), sitting, squatting, walking or standing for long periods of time is often necessary, up to 6 hours per day.

Full-Time, Days. Anticipated schedule is Monday-Friday from 7am-3pm and rotating weekends. Up to 25% Area/Local Travel can be expected in this role. This position requires frequent travel to Cayuga Medical Center’s Laboratory Outpatient Service Centers.
