$ 25.0-35.51 USD Are you a skilled Medical Lab Scientist ready to step into leadership? Join our team as a Night Shift Lead and take charge of critical lab operations when precision and reliability matter most. In this role, you’ll guide a dedicated team of technologists, ensure quality control, and help drive innovation through projects like EPIC Beaker . This is a key opportunity within UPMC’s Labs Career Ladder , offering growth, impact, and the chance to shape the future of our lab services. Final title and compensation will be based on your education and experience.

Responsibilities:

Supervisor Designate:

Act as supervisor when needed. Communicate issues to higher management. Participate in administrative call rotation.

Competency:

Help document staff competency. Complete tasks on time.

Operations:

Perform Medical Technologist duties. Maintain and troubleshoot instruments. Review and report QC logs. Compile QA data and assist with evaluations. Help with staff scheduling.

Role Model:

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Represent the lab on committees. Follow reporting, appearance, and compliance policies. Monitor attendance and tardiness.

Purchasing and Inventory:

Manage inventory levels. Prevent supply issues. Purchase supplies when needed.

Training and Development:

Learn new procedures quickly. Stay updated on changes. Train and support staff. Develop and evaluate projects. Author and revise procedures. Deliver lectures and bench instruction.

Qualifications:

Three years experience as a Medical Technologist required, including two year’s experience in the host laboratory preferred. One years experience in Histocompatibility in an ASHI accredited laboratory required. (only for Tissue Typing Laboratory). For NY locations/laboratories holding NY state licensures

ONLY:

Six years clinical lab experience required

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

ASCP or equivalent certification in medical technology (MT) or categorical certification preferred. Certification as a Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) by the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI) required (only for Tissue Typing Laboratory).
