Job Responsibilities:
To develop, implement and maintain a quality management system (QMS) for all aspects of laboratory practice so as to comply with the legal requirements of the
ISO/IEC 17025
2017 guidelines regarding the standards of accreditation body of Perry Johnson Laboratory Accreditation. To develop, implement and review the laboratory quality plan. To report to the laboratory management on the functioning and effectiveness of the quality management system. To be instrumental in the development of a culture of quality and critical review within the laboratory. To develop, facilitate and co-ordinate the audit of laboratory processes and to be responsible for the dissemination of information relating to quality to all laboratory staff To be responsible for the training, development and competency assessment of staff within the laboratory. To have a good practical knowledge of laboratory processes. Required to work in the laboratory as a competent and proficient Lab Analyst as the need of the laboratory service requires. Maintain and update the Org Chart as needed To be the point of contact and liaison with accrediting organizations, coordinating inspections and responding to non-compliances and deficiencies. To work with laboratory users, to consider their needs and to ensure that the service is developed collaboratively To deal with complaints from the users of the laboratory, both verbal and written. To represent the laboratory on quality issues in relevant meetings. Is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of a Training system for the laboratory. Is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of an Auditing system for the laboratory Develops Standard Operating Procedures within the Quality Management and Training Systems across the laboratory service To produce a Quality Policy and a Quality Manual, to maintain these documents and identify areas for improvement in quality management in the laboratory To produce quality plans and objectives to meet the changing needs of the laboratory environment To develop and implement a Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) system for the laboratory. Report, investigate and take measures to resolve departmental incidents and failures of service provision. Analyze the results of audits to improve the laboratory service. Look at current systems used in the laboratory to see if they could be improved through the introduction of quality principles. To investigate, recommend and implement corrective and preventative actions when the quality management system identifies a loss of performance of the laboratory equipment, systems or methods To act as an expert resource for quality management within the laboratory for all staff. To carry out the duties of a competent lab analyst. Performing audits, writing reports, interpreting guidelines, work with inspection and accreditation bodies, developing policies and writing protocols.
