JOB SUMMARY
Lab Manager to support, establish and maintain lab operations. Manage and organize lab supplies, ordering reagents, shipping DNA/RNA and plant tissue samples, and help develop lab safety protocols. Assist with lab equipment setup, coordination, support on-boarding of new students and researchers, contribute to experimental design, data collection, and analysis. Support faculty research. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES

- Maintain, manage, and organize lab supplies, reagents, and stocks of new lab. Order supplies/reagents when needed. Distribute stocks to requesting labs when applicable. Coordinate setup and management of lab equipment. Facilitate access to other labs for shared equipment 20%

- Support central lab research goals by maintaining genetic mapping populations of cultivated Bidens sp. and building a set of recombinant inbred lines (RILs) for large scale phenotyping experiments. Populations will be maintained in seeds stocks, as cuttings and in tissue culture when necessary. 10%

- Shipping samples to core facilities and collaborators to support project goals.
These include:
preparing DNA/RNA for sequencing experiments (extraction, quality control, dilution per req. specs, and some library construction), shipping live plants as both cuttings and seeds (live cuttings from mapping populations for collaborators to use for phenotyping and transgenic seed distribution based on requests post publication), as well as flash frozen plant material for specialized sequencing experiments (ATATC, snRNAseq and HiC sequencing). 10%

- Assist in establishing baseline lab operation and safety protocols
- in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Assist with onboarding new students/researchers alongside the lab lead, this includes ensuring safety training compliance of all lab researchers and developing and providing access to detailed standard operating procedures for common lab protocols.

Anticipated Salary Range:
$36,800
- $47,000 Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson’s compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Normal Operations Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
