We are looking for a self-motivated and friendly individual to oversee laboratory operations, manage lab technicians, and uphold our high standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate will not only lead a team of professionals but also provide hands-on support in laboratory tasks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1.
Team Management:
Supervise and coordinate the activities of laboratory technicians. Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for lab staff. Schedule and assign tasks to ensure efficient workflow and meet deadlines. 2.
Laboratory Operations:
Oversee daily laboratory activities, and operations, including quality control, adherence to safety protocols, and compliance with CLIA regulations and quality standards. Ensure that all testing personnel are qualified and properly trained. Assist in laboratory procedures, including sample preparation, analysis, and equipment maintenance. Troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions to improve laboratory efficiency. 3.
Quality Assurance:
Develop and enforce standard operating procedures to maintain quality control. Monitor and document laboratory results, ensuring accuracy and reliability. Participate in audits and inspections, addressing any findings or recommendations. 4.
Proficiency Testing:
Participate in proficiency testing program’s to assess the personnel’s, and laboratory’s performance. 5. Serve as
Laboratory Technician Supervisor, and Consultant:
The Technical Supervisor must be accessible to testing personnel at all times when testing is performed to provide on-site, telephone, or electronic consultation to resolve technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established by the laboratory director or technical supervisor. Providing day-to-day supervision of high-complexity test performance by qualified testing personnel. Monitoring test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained. Ensuring that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications. Ensuring that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly. Providing orientation to all testing personnel, as well as evaluating and documenting the performance and competencies of all testing personnel. 6.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other UA departments to support research and development initiatives. 7.
Inventory Management:
Manage laboratory supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper maintenance. Coordinate the procurement of materials and equipment as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry). Licensure as Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist by Tennessee Medical Laboratory Board Tennessee Laboratory Supervisor license At least one year of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing. At least one year in a supervisory role preferred. Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance practices. Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
