//newdaydiagnostics.com/ POSITION SUMMARY The ideal candidate is a a scientific professional responsible for overseeing all research activities and directing laboratory staff in day-to-day operations. As a key member of a multifunctional team, this individual plays an active role in managing laboratory space and ensuring smooth general operations. The Research Laboratory Manager also serves as a project lead on multiple research initiatives, driving execution and ensuring high-quality outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES
General Duties:

As Research Department Head, leads, organize, and oversees the execution and management of research projects. Contribute to R D and Clinical operations within the laboratory project team to provide high-quality deliverables efficiently. Ensures the verification and validation of test procedures performed and the establishment of the laboratory’s test performance characteristics of each test and test system are performed, completed, and reported in a timely manner. Review quality control and other testing reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with requirements. Responsible for laboratory-related document development, maintenance, and review. Responsible for training and managing personnel on research laboratory testing. Prepare protocols, data analysis, & study summary reports for internal and external use. Provide technical assistance to staff, operations, and customers regarding laboratory-related issues. Assist the team by developing and reviewing workflows, purchasing new equipment, and selecting test methodologies that are appropriate and capable of providing quality results. Coordinate with other laboratory leadership on project activities involving staff across departments; orient, train, and oversee work. Assist the sales and marketing team with study scoping aspects such as document review, timeline creation, and sourcing equipment, reagents, and consumables related to the projects. Act as a liaison with marketing, sales, development, quality, and clinical.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

Assist team to ensure all procedures related to laboratory equipment and testing are current, have maintenance and quality control steps and reflect applicable manufacturer operating requirements and guidelines. Review of SOPs assigned are performed, and changes are implemented in a timely manner. Supervise and mentor staff, responsible for professional development of direct employees. Evaluates laboratory systems, processes, procedures, and equipment related to operating efficiency, effectiveness, and regulatory compliance. Collect, analyze, and interpret data from experiments and studies using computers or laboratory equipment. Communicate with consultants, collaborating organizations, and other research partners as needed. Represent New Day Diagnostics at conferences, meetings, and other events held by external organizations. Participate in staff recruitment. Sets specific goals for self and others. Establish clear focus and direction for the laboratory team. Delegates tasks to ensure the laboratory team is functioning efficiently. Strive for continuous improvement with the company. Ensure that all laboratory work meets quality standards. Participate in all relevant quality control and quality assurance activities. Direct preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment or instruments and participate in troubleshooting where applicable. Document all quality control, maintenance, calibration, and training activities properly. Ensure efficient acquisition and implementation of test systems

Administrative, Quality & Compliance Duties:

Draft, revise, and review select policies and protocols as needed; recommend and implement policy updates, process improvements, and procedure manual revisions. Ensure all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are current and appropriately documented in designated reference locations. Collaborate with quality and safety teams to maintain compliance across all laboratory operations. Apply knowledge of quality control principles to evaluate test and instrument performance; use critical thinking to assess the accuracy and reliability of test results. Support the collection and periodic review of quality control data; adjust control ranges under appropriate guidance. Serve as the lead laboratory contact for contractual work and client-facing research activities. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution with a minimum of 6 years of laboratory training or experience Demonstrated expertise in microbiology and molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to tissue culture, aseptic technique, fixation, ligations, manual DNA/RNA extraction, and PCR. Strong technical writing skills are preferred. Publication record in relevant scientific fields is desirable. Willingness to learn and train others in new biological techniques and methods as needed. Experience working with infectious agents is preferred. Ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to maintain complete and accurate records. Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail. Willingness and ability to travel as required. Demonstrates initiative, self-motivation, resourcefulness, and dependability. Proficiency in applicable computer software and the ability to learn and use new tools quickly. Strong oral and written communication skills.
