Work where you matter. A Brief Overview Provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.
This may involve polysommography, diagnostic and therapeuticservices or patient care and education. The Sleep Lab Technologistis responsible for sleep studies and communicating with the patientand physicians. What you will do Collects, analyzes, and integrates patient information in orderto identify and meet the patient-specific needs (physical/mentallimitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding thetesting procedure, pertinent medical/social history), and todetermine final testing parameters/procedure in conjunction withthe ordering physician or clinical director and sleep laboratoryprotocols. Documents routine observations including sleep stages andclinical events, changes in procedure, and significant events inorder to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographicresults. Explains pre-testing, testing, and post testing procedures tothe patient. Performs sleep studies including CPAP and BiPAP titration andindications for each. Also can understand and implement the Auto SVtherapy. Prepares and calibrates equipment required for testing todetermine proper functioning and makes adjustments as necessary.
Applies electrodes and sensors according to published standards.
Performs appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure propersignals and make adjustments if necessary. Properly fits andtrouble shoots masks and nasal pillows. Follows procedural protocols such as Multiple Sleep LatencyTests (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests (MLT), parasomniastudies, PAP, oxygen Titration etc. to ensure collection ofappropriate data. Score clinical events (such as respiratory events, cardiacevents, limb movements, arousals etc.) according to center specificprotocols. Performs routine and complex equipment care and maintenance.
Evaluates sleep study related equipment and inventory. Follows procedural protocols such as Multiple Sleep LatencyTests (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests (MLT), parasomniastudies, PAP, oxygen Titration etc. to ensure collection ofappropriate data. Scores sleep/wake stages by applying professionally acceptedguidelines. Involved in performing outreach sleep studies. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
Registered Polysomnographer Technologist – Board of RegisteredPolysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) within 1-1/2 Yrs or Respiratory Therapist –
Licensing Board Upon Hire Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
