Work where you matter. A Brief OverviewProvides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.
This may involve polysommography, diagnostic and therapeuticservices or patient care and education. The Sleep Lab Technologistis responsible for sleep studies and communicating with the patientand physicians. What you will do Collects, analyzes, and integratespatient information in order to identify and meet thepatient-specific needs (physical/mental limitations, currentemotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedure,pertinent medical/social history), and to determine final testingparameters/procedure in conjunction with the ordering physician orclinical director and sleep laboratory protocols. Documents routineobservations including sleep stages and clinical events, changes inprocedure, and significant events in order to facilitate scoringand interpretation of polysomnographic results. Explainspre-testing, testing, and post testing procedures to the patient.
Performs sleep studies including CPAP and BiPAP titration andindications for each. Also can understand and implement the Auto SVtherapy. Prepares and calibrates equipment required for testing todetermine proper functioning and makes adjustments as necessary.
Applies electrodes and sensors according to published standards.
Performs appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure propersignals and make adjustments if necessary. Properly fits andtrouble shoots masks and nasal pillows. Follows proceduralprotocols [such as Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT), Maintenanceof Wakefulness Tests (MLT), parasomnia studies, PAP, oxygenTitration etc.] to ensure collection of appropriate data. Scoreclinical events (such as respiratory events, cardiac events, limbmovements, arousals etc.) according to center specific protocols.
Performs routine and complex equipment care and maintenance.
Evaluates sleep study related equipment and inventory. Followsprocedural protocols [such as Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT),Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests (MLT), parasomnia studies, PAP,oxygen Titration etc.] to ensure collection of appropriate data.
Scores sleep/wake stages by applying professionally acceptedguidelines. Involved in performing outreach sleep studies.

RegisteredPolysomnographer Technologist – Board of RegisteredPolysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) within 1-1/2 Yrs orRespiratory Therapist –
Licensing Board Upon Hire PreferredEducation, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
