Medical Lab Scientist II Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Medical Lab Scientist II to join our team. In this role, you will perform essential testing procedures in a hospital laboratory environment, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. Responsibilities Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria. Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions following departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality. Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls. Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary. Assist with processing of specimens when needed. Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology. Minimum 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience. Proficiency in medical technology and laboratory procedures. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Strong communication and organizational skills. High level of attention to detail. Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen. Additional Skills & Qualifications State Medical Technologist license may be required. ASCP or AMT certification is preferred. Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs. Work Environment This position is based in a hospital laboratory setting, requiring adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment. The work environment is collaborative, with opportunities to work both independently and as part of a team. Flexibility in shift scheduling is necessary to meet business needs.
