Duties Perform all the advanced technical work of one of the services: Immunology/Serology, Hemology, Microbiology, Chemistry and Blood Bank. Perform specialized and technically demanding tests th require concentred and considerable time and experience. Handle unusual test requests, identify and resolve inconsistent test results. Develop new solutions to methodological problems, analyzes test systems, and devises plan to achieve objectives after literure reviews, and contacts with colleagues in other hospitals. Consult with manufacturers to test and provide feedback on their tests kits and reagents before they are commercially released. Assist in upding procedure manuals, perform inventory, rote stock, and maintain necessary records. Clinical Laborory Scientist:
A bachelor’s or gradue/higher level degree from a regionally accredited college/university including courses in biological science, chemistry and mhemics, AND successful completion of a Medical Laborory Scientist/Clinical Laborory Scientist program accredited by the Nional Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laborory Sciences (NAACLS) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Educion the time the degree was obtained. OR At least a full 4-year course of study th included 12 months in a college or hospital-based medical technology program or medical technology school approved by a recognized accrediting organizion. The professional medical technology curriculum may have consisted of a 1-year post- bachelor’s certifice program or the last 1 or 2 years of a 4-year program of study culmining in a bachelor’s in medical technology. OR A bachelor’s or gradue/higher level degree from an accredited college/university th included 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of biological science (with one semester in microbiology), 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of chemistry (with one semester in organic or biochemistry), one semester (one quarter) of mhemics, AND five years of full time acceptable clinical laborory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hemology, microbiology, Immunology and Urinalysis/Body Fluids. The four major areas of clinical laborory science are microbiology, clinical chemistry, hemology, and immunohemology (blood banking). Qualifying course work in these areas includes bacteriology, mycology, mycobacteriology, tissue culture, virology, parasitology, endocrinology, enzymology, toxicology, urinalysis, coagulion, hemostasis, cell morphology, immunology, serology, immunoserology, immuno-deficiency, hemolysis, histocompibility, cyto-genetics, and similar disciplines or areas of laborory practice. Reled fields include physiology, anomy, molecular biology, cell biology, embryology, phology, genetics, pharmacology, histology, cytology, nuclear medicine, epidemiology, biostistics, infection control, physics, stistics, and similar areas of science where the work is directly reled to the position to be filled.
